Never Late

When we experience life, it is as if we see in part. We can only see life through our own lens, shaped by our emotions, culture, experiences, and perspective, but we cannot experience life in its entirety and come to the same conclusion. There will always be a different reality someone else is living than yours. There will always be a different conclusion from your neighbour. Life can be sweet for one person, yet bitter for another. One family can be experiencing joy because a mother just gave birth, while another family struggles with conception. God may have granted someone their dream job, while on the same day, telling someone else, 'I want you to quit your dream job.' Day after day, one household will respond differently to the world than the next.  Faith may be at a peak, while someone else has lost all hope. In one's lens, someone can conclude life is full of trouble, but from someone else’s lens, trouble doesn’t last always.

I find it an honor when I meet people with a life full of wisdom and comprehension. It’s something about their maturity that illustrates a beautiful tussle with suffering. If you show me someone with a perspective that yields understanding, I’d say you have found someone who sits and has continual communion with the Holy Spirit. (But I digress lol!)

In the scriptures, specifically in John 11, we encounter a story about Jesus and His beloved friend Lazarus, who was gravely ill. This narrative beautifully illustrates two contrasting perspectives. While Lazarus’s sisters, Mary and Martha, relied on their close friend, Jesus, to heal their brother, this situation also provided Jesus with the opportunity to display the glory of God that only He could achieve.

Looking through the lens of Jesus

What happens when the Lord seeks to execute an extraordinary miracle, using your situation as the ideal entry point?  Do you yield your life and situation for the Lord's use, or is it a “take me out of the game, coach” approach?  The truth is, coming into agreement with Jesus’s lens will most likely be unfavorable for us. One of the things that amazes me about this story is Jesus’s decision to wait two days before seeing Lazarus. It’s funny how the Lord interrupts our timelines to introduce us to a point of view that surpasses any human reasoning. Someone who is infinite with time orchestrates it like a beautiful symphony. But to the world of mankind, time is like vapor. Yet, the Lord, who is the Holy One, will still choose to wait.

When looking at life through the eyes of the Lord, it opens us up to a different outcome. Dark days become brighter when the Lord gives us His lens, which shares the mysteries and missing pieces that we are not spiritually capturing. Martha and Mary were highly upset about the death of their brother. This “death”wouldn’t have happened if Jesus had been there on time. Yet the waiting period of an unfavorable moment  introduces a moment of a lifetime that could only be written by the One who is the Resurrection.  Consider how our own circumstances can serve as glorious moments for others to come to faith in Him as well. That a sickness, a pregnancy, business ownership, marriage, career development, death, debt, hair growth, weight loss or gain, salvation, homeownership, true intimacy with Jesus, or anything needing divine intervention are all glory moments for others to believe in the One who has done something incredible for us. The truth is, the Lord Jesus brings the details that leave us with hope and an expected end.

Although we may perceive the impossible, when viewed through the eyes of the Lord, we find ourselves in the ideal position to witness His work. Indeed, we are feeling the effects, yet He recognizes the glory in that impact, which leads to the crushing of oil. Whatever challenges you face, you also possess the authority to release others from similar struggles through the power of the Holy Spirit.

TO THE READER

Know this ﹣God is never late. He is not under the submission of time. While we await God’s intervention or fulfillment of His promise to hit our 24-hour timeframe, let’s prioritize God's word over what we physically see. If we fix our focus from depending on the physical date and actively depend on what God said, His word holds more value than time, which disappears like vapor. We may not fully comprehend the Lord’s methods, but He’s faithful in ALL that He does. May you always find yourself seeking out the Lord’s lens for every decision, every opportunity, every rejection, and every idea. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
